Dear Friend of Rise Together Education,

My name is Nickolas Kushchenko. I’m a proud graduate of Paly and this May, I will walk across the stage at Westmont College to receive my degree in Psychology. As I prepare for that milestone, I’ve been reflecting on the community that made it possible—a community that includes Rise Together Education (RTE) and supporters like you.

My journey into psychology began in the classrooms of Paly. It was there that Mr. Farina opened my eyes to the fascinating world of human behavior, and Mr. Fung showed me the importance of a healthy relationship between the mind and the body. I realized early on that I wanted to understand people beyond just their academic achievements and to help them see that there is so much more to life than just grades.

The Bridge to Success

Choosing Westmont College was a dream come true, but navigating the transition from high school to a rigorous collegiate environment is never a solo act. RTE stepped in to provide the support system I needed to thrive.

The greatest impact on my college life has been my mentor, John Fitton. John didn’t just offer advice; he offered a warmth that became a cornerstone of my college experience. Whether he was checking in to see how I was handling my heavy course load or offering guidance on life's bigger questions, his presence was a constant reminder that I wasn't alone in this process. He is, quite simply, amazing.

Reinforcing Human Connections

For me college has been a fascinating stage of life. It’s where I’ve been able to cultivate my own thoughts and reinforce my learning through internships and helping others on campus. I’ve faced academic challenges and celebrated great successes, all while keeping my focus on the goal: using my natural talents to serve God and help people in every way I can.

I am graduating in May 2026, but there are so many students behind me at Paly who have the same heart for service and the same drive to succeed. They just need the bridge that RTE provides.
