Q: Why did you decide to go to UC Davis?

A: I chose UC Davis because it offered the best financial aid package out of all my options, which made a big difference. The location was also ideal—not too far from home, but far enough to have my own space. Since I’m interested in studying law, being close to Sacramento felt like the right fit, as it gives me access to potential experiences and opportunities in the legal field. Overall, there were several factors that made UC Davis the best choice for me. I’m confident it was the right decision!

Q: What is your major and why did you choose that?

A: My major is Sociology, and I have the goal of becoming an attorney. I chose Sociology because I wanted to understand how society influences individuals. Specifically, I’m interested in how societal standards shape people's behaviors on a personal level and how that can impact decisions around justice and punishment.

Q: How has RTE helped you achieve your academic goals?

A: RTE has connected me with a mentor who checks in on me from time to time, which has been really helpful. It gives me a chance to update someone on what I’ve been working on and how I’m progressing. They've helped me stay on track by providing support and being a sounding board whenever I need guidance.

Q: How has your college experience been?

A: My experience has been amazing, and it's crazy to think that it’s almost over! I honestly can't believe how quickly four years have flown by, but I can say without a doubt that I've had a great time here. I’ve learned a lot, connected with many people, and had memorable experiences, like studying abroad and joining new clubs. Overall, I’ve truly enjoyed my time here, and while it’s bittersweet to move on to the next chapter, I’m grateful for everything I’ve gained.

Q: What are you most looking forward to post-graduation?

A: Aside from a bit of an academic break, I'm really looking forward to starting this new chapter of my life. I’m excited to make decisions that are more focused on my near-term future and take charge of how I want to shape my life and spend my time.

Q: What role do you think RTE will play in pursuing those goals?

A: I know RTE will support me in pursuing my goals by providing a strong support system. My conversations with my mentor have been incredibly helpful, offering guidance and words of wisdom that keep me on track. They've encouraged me to keep pushing forward despite any obstacles, and having a mentor like this will be key in helping me achieve my goals.
